Hark the herald angels sing!

November 5, 2010

So to set off Crafty Christmas Countdown -Angels!

I came up with this pattern a few years ago, but I still make them as decorations for the tree or for christmas cards. The purple version shows how easily the colours can be changed to fit your own colour scheme. The pattern is shown below, I hope it makes some sort of sense!

Last year I developed the pattern further and have created a 3D version of the angel. This was made with wire and thread for the hair

This angel bear is made from felt and stands about 6″ high, it has a pocket in the lower half which I intend to put Caitlin’s christmas necklace in. and hide on the tree. I used felt tip pen to add the cheeks, and beads for eyes. the holly and berries on the waist are seed beads and felt holly leaves cut on the cuttlebug using a quickutz die. I’ve found cheap, thin felt from Tescos cuts beautifully on my cuttlebug with the quickutz dies.  Pattern here

A  couple more ideas for angels:

Creative ramblings have a tutorial for lace angel.

Life and all that comes with it have a good pattern for a paper angel.

Good old Martha has a tutorial for paper plate angels.

Christmas crafts for kids have an angel pattern for hama beads, and so do angel-guide here.

If you want easy templates for angel wings try here and here from angel-guide. Some would be good for fairy wings too.
