Found this idea using natural materials at the twig and toadstool blog and Caitlin and I substituted Maple with Sycamore keys which we collected on the way back from school. Caitlin painted the wings in Lumiere metallic acrylic paint and let dry, then added second coat to cover and sprinkled some with decoart glamour dust for added sparkle. We then gathered twigs from our rosemary bush for the dragonfly bodies and we stuck down the wings and let dry. It would have been much easier with a glue gun, but I can’t find mine at the moment.

Having made them we then used some handmade papers to make a lakeside scene for the cards. Caitlin gave two to her teacher and teaching assistant as thank you cards at end of term. The topic for the summer term had been mini beasts so these seemed appropriate. The last one Caitlin gave to her grandma as a birthday card. Caitlin loved making these and has already gathered some more sycamore keys to make some more, I’m thinking these would make a nice mobile too.
